Jeff dislikes Halloween and loathes office parties, and this one sounds like any other annoying get-together. He just hopes that he can hide his identity long enough to get through the evening. When he sees a young man dressed as a submissive, a part of him awakens which he long thought lost.
Alan is having the worst night of his life. Talked into the costume by a friend, he is humiliated, despite the fact that serving a Master has always been his dream. He just wants the night over. That is until he meets the tall, dark, masked man at the bar.
The chance encounter reminds Jeff just how much he loves to be in control, and it is a fantasy come true for Alan, but once the mask comes off, they must decide if their feelings for each other are enough to move things outside the bedroom and try to make a relationship work between them.

Jeff, attending a Halloween party that he didn’t want to be at, meets Alan who is dressed as a slave with DOMINATE ME written across his shirt. Jeff, a Dom, has felt something missing in his life. Could Alan be the answer for him? Could they have a relationship outside the BDSM arena? Jeff was certainly ready for one. Only time will tell along with an enjoyable read. EM Leya is one of my favorite authors of the short story, and I understand is soon to collaborate in a new series with Nicole Colville. Could it get any better? Not for me. Masked edition by EM Leya Karissa Ariel Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Book was very good
This was my first time reading anything by this author. I had been looking for something to read for some time. The premise sounded interesting and the sample I read I found interesting as well. The price was fairly reasonable though I was concerned that the book was only six chapters. I typically enjoy a longer more slow burning story line but I enjoyed the writers voice so I took a chance.
Overall I enjoyed the story. I liked the BDSM theme and I liked that the characters seemed realistic in their behaviors. I felt the story was rushed but I've come to understand that that's the price you pay when you invest in a book with very few chapters. So keeping that in mind, if that's the type of read you like, I think the story tied everything up nicely.
Considering the books length and how quickly everything wrapped up, the only thing that kept me from offering a 5 star review was the dialogue. I'm a big stickler for good dialogue and while I enjoyed the authors narrative style, I didn't enjoy as much the character dialogue. It's something I see often, and I'm a writer myself, often times in an attempt to make the Dom sound more dominant and authoritative his grammar will be too formal with very little use of contractions which can come across as stilted. I personally feel that you can use relaxed English, such as, "I'll untie you when it pleases me" instead of, "I will untie you when it pleases me" to make the dialogue flow better and sound more natural and it still comes across just as authoritative.
At times I was jarred from the story because the language in the dialogue didn't flow naturally to me. It just didn't sound the way people talk in real life. Everyone doesn't speak perfect formal English all the time, especially in private moments where people tend to be more relaxed. That turns characters into cardboard cut-outs instead of characters with depth.
So overall, I think the writer did a good job and I'd recommend it if you like a short read. The sex scenes were decently hot. I did think it was a bit unrealistic in one of the scenes in terms of how hard the Dom pushed a first time sub on just their second session but I was able to forgive that because of how they interacted overall.
It was good but I wanted more story. More character development I guess.
Jeff attends yet another corporate event he'd much rather skip. Alan is dragged to the Halloween party but then ignored by his friend. His costume catches the eye of a very handsome masked man and soon they both find what they've been looking for in one another.
It was very interesting the way the story line was plaid out with Jeff not revealing his true identity until much later. But one thing that was faulty with the plot was his insecurity issues. Not only was he bothered by not being accepted by employees and not being able to hold conversations with them, but he worried about whether or not Alan would accept him and whether he'd be willing to take things to another level. He also was uncomfortable in crowds, which is strange for someone holding such a high ranking, high powered job that would be in meetings all the time. Who ever heard of a Dom with esteem issues?
IMO, this read more like someone who did some research on the BDSM world, picked out what sounded hot, and threw it into a story. It didn't even fit with Jeff's character. Nevertheless, I still liked the story and both of the MCs.
Even though this is a short read, I loved the whole story. It is like a condensed version, but that makes it even better - especially when you have the same issue as I do regularly - not being able to put the story down.
What makes it this great is the realism of the interaction. I never understood the hype over Fifty Shades as I never managed to read through the first book, but Jeff and Alan show what the world of BDSM truly is like.
And damn, I love them!
